Savor Septober - Friday Night Lights

Hands down, my favorite two months of the year are September and October. I call this time "Septober". From the warm days and cool nights to the beautiful fall leaves, I love everything about this time. This year, I've made a promise to myself to savor every one of the 61 days of Septober.

The first day of Septober, I headed out to watch the Delavan Comets varsity football game. My nephew, Sean, is on the team and one of the key reasons I moved back home to Wisconsin was to be able to be at the kids' games, concerts, and other special events.

The night was crisp and cool, a bit surprising for this early in the season, but all of the warmth of small town football was in the air. Bleachers full of energetic teens decked out in school colors, the smell of hot dogs and popcorn from the concession stand, parents with one eye on the game and the other on their little ones chasing around the stands.

While the game didn't end up in Delavan's favor, just being part of this event with my family was a night worth remembering.
